The Nigerian Police Force, NPF has reportedly imposed a strict curfew for the nationwide protest against economic hardship in the country.
According to News Central, the police asked protesters to convey their messages and conclude their activities on or before 4pm.
In addition to the curfew, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has asked all groups planning to participate in the demonstrations to submit their details like names and addresses to the commissioners of police in their respective states.
According to the Police, this is a standard procedure to facilitate effective communication, ensure the safety of all participants, and prevent any unlawful activities.
From August 1, Nigerians are expected to gather in large numbers to peacefully protest hardship, poor governance, widespread hunger among others.
Already, some youths have trooped to the streets of Niger State on Monday to protest the economic hardship in Nigeria.
They wielded placards such as ‘Enough is Enough’; ‘Stop Anti-Masses Policies’; ‘We Are Not Slaves In Our Country’; ‘Hardship Is Unbearable’, ‘Fuel Subsidy Must Be Back’, among others.
The protest will hold across all the thirty states of the federation.
