BREAKING: Nigerian Army, Bandits In Gunbattle (Video)

Gunmen suspected to be bandits and kidnappers have engaged the Nigerian army in gun-duel on Wednesday on Benin-Auchi road in Edo State.

In a video obtained by DAILY GIST, The incident affected movement on the busy road as vehicles halted their trip.

It was not immediately clear if there were casualties during the incident.

Kidnap activities on the Benin-Auchi road has taken a new dimension in recent time.

Recall that about five kidnap victims were rescued by security operatives at Okwo Ogbemudia farm, Uhunmwonde local government of the state, on the Benin-Auchi road while six others were rescued at Ekpoma, in Esan West local government of the state respectively.

It was learnt that one of the kidnappers was killed in a gun battle with the police during the rescue operation at the Okwo Ogbemudia farm.

Data from Nextier SPD Violent Conflict Database shows that in the twelve months to September 2021, Nigeria recorded 20 kidnap-for-ransom incidents resulting in 2,542 kidnap victims.
