The Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) has announced new update on Monday after deadline given to Niger Coup leaders to return power back to Democratic government elapses.

It scheduled yet another meeting on the Niger crisis.

ECOWAS leaders had met in Abuja on August and issued a 7-day deadline for the Niger junta to reinstate ousted President Mohamed Bazoum or risk sanctions, including possible military intervention.

The deadline is Sunday, August 6th

President Bola Tinubu doubled as ECOWAS chairman sent a high-powered delegation to the country to meet with the coup leaders, on Thursday for peace talk.

However efforts to resolve the crisis through dialogue failed.
