The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced a ban on the use of phones for passengers during take-off and landing.

Michael Achimugu, spokesperson of the NCAA, stated this in a statement on Tuesday via his official X page.

The new regulation mandates all passengers to switch off their phones and other electronic devices during take-off and landing

He said the regulation has now been unified across all Nigerian airlines.

The statement reads: “ALL PHONES MUST BE SWITCHED OFF DURING THE CRITICAL ASPECTS OF TAKE-OFF AND LANDING.

“All airlines must amend their security programmes to reflect this if different in their current programmes.”

DAILY GIST reports that the development is coming following an incident involving a passenger, Comfort Emmanson and crew of the Ibom Airline.
