Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has arrived the Supreme Court on Wednesday morning.
DAILY GIST had reported that a seven-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice John Okoro, had temporarily restrained the federal government from restricting the use of the old naira notes after February 10 pending the hearing of the suit.
The ex-parte application was filed by the governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states, citing the negative effects the policy is having on the residents. Other state governments have also joined the suit.
The apex court is expected to deliver a judgment on the suit today.
The apex bank had stated that the February 10 deadline stands and the old notes are no longer legal tender.
But President Muhammadu Buhari said he will take a decision on the legality of the old currency notes of N200, N500 and N1000 after the determination of the suit filed by some state governments at the Supreme Court.
