A 21- storey building that was under construction has collapsed in Lagos State on Monday, November 1.
The building is located off Alexander way, Gerrard road in Ikoyi Lagos.
DAILY GIST reliably gathered that scores of people are trapped in the rubble.
The building was said to be under construction when it suddenly collapsed on construction workers.
Three persons have been rescued from the rubble of the collapsed building by volunteers and emergency agencies on the ground.
The rescued victims have since been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention
Seven dead bodies, it was gathered have reportedly been evacuated from the debris of the collapsed 21-storey building on Gerald Road, Ikoyi area of Lagos.
Rescue operation is currently ongoing, with emergency responders battling to save the lives of those trapped in the debris.
But the sad news is that about seven dead bodies have been evacuated from the remains of the building so far, with more still expected.
One of the emergency responder said since they had been working, nobody has been brought out alive from the debris, but admitted that few people were rescued before emergency responders arrived the scene.
Officials of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, are currently at the scene of the incident to salvage the lives of those trapped.
According to Director General, LASEMA Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency has activated its emergency response plan to the above incident.
“All first responders are en route to secure the scene while the heavy-duty equipment and life detection equipment have been dispatched.”
