Oyo State Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, on Sunday announced that he has dumped the People democratic party, PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC
He disclosed this in his private office, Ojoo, Ibadan, while addressing Reporters on Sunday in a press conference
His announcement came after weeks of speculations that he was going to leave the party because of the frosty relationship between him and his boss, Governor Seyi Makinde.
DAILY GIST reported that the defection of Olaniyan from PDP to APC is coming a few days after the state governor, Makinde dropped him ahead of the 2023 elections.
Recall that Olaniyan and Makinde were jointly elected as Deputy Governor and Governor on the platform of PDP in 2019.
The relationship between Makinde and Olaniyan, it was gathered became frosty not long after Makinde became the governor
The deputy governor, who is from the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone, on Sunday said, “Which official announcement do you want me to make?
“My friends and people asked me to leave PDP.
“I have joined APC.”
