Embattled DCP Abba Kyari has reacted after terrorists attacked Kuje prison and released Boko Haram members.
DAILY GIST reported how the terrorists had attacked the correctional facility with explosives and free over 800 Inmates in the late hours of Tuesday.
The terrorists, it was gathered after breaching the Medium Security Prison set out for Abba Kyari’s cell and made several attempts to kill him.
Eyewitness reports reveal that the Terrorists on getting to Kyari’s cell fired several shots at the cell holding Kyari.
“When they gained access into the facility, the first set of people they set free were inmates from the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) section (popularly called ‘Bombblast’ by inmates), and some of them pointed to direction of the cell where Abba Kyari was kept, popularly called ‘Segregation,” a source who pleaded anonymity for security reasons stated.
“When they had opened everywhere and inmates were still within the compound, close to kitchen side, one of the commanding terrorists ordered that nobody should move yet because some of his boys had gone to Abba Kyari’s side.”
“Some two minutes later, three of his boys emerged from the side of the prison yard housing the hospital, which is the same route to the Segregation and the church. Immediately he spotted them, he ordered everyone to move outside. He then led the line of inmates and his boys monitored every bend until the inmates got outside.”
“They meant to kill Abba Kyari but God saved him because the doors of the segregation are stronger than other doors. They shot at his doors but the iron bed at the Segregation, where he hid himself under, saved him.”

Kyari who is being held at the prison has narrated his experience after surviving the attack.
He said: ‘’Only God saved us today (yesterday). For over two hours and 45 minutes, more than 300 terrorist took over the Kuje prison in Abuja with GPMGs, Bombs, RPGs, Many Rifles etc.
‘’The total population of the Kuje Prison inmates is about 1,476, and only 111 of the inmates refused to escape and decided to remain in the prison as 90 per cent escaped.
‘’Those that decided not to escape include former governor Jolly Nyame of Taraba State, Farouk lawal, Abba Kyari and four of his officers, retired AVM and also 107 other inmates who have less than three months to finish their jail term.’’
