Gunmen suspected to be members of indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) have set ablazed, a police station in imo state.
It was gathered that the attackers who stormed the area on Thursday night opened fire on the government facility before setting it on fire.
A yet-to-be ascertained number of suspects have been reportedly freed during the attack.
The police officers on duty were said to have fled, making the attackers have a field day.
According to an eyewitness, the gunmen shot repeatedly at the police station causing a serious panic among residents living in the area.
As at the time of filling this report, the police station it was gathered is still on fire.
South-East particularly Imo and Anambra states have continued to record widespread of violence.
The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been accused of masterminding Killings and attacks on government facilities across the South East, the allegation the sessionist group has since denied.
