The Rivers State House of Assembly has given Governor Siminalayi Fubara 48 hours ultimatum to present the 2025 budget to the lawmakers.
The lawmakers led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule gave the directive during plenary in Port Harcourt on Monday.
The directive comes following the order by the Supreme Court directing the lawmakers to resume legislative activities after months of a power struggle over the control of the Assembly.
The governor had presented a 2025 Appropriation Bill of N1.188 trillion to the three-man Victor Oko-Jumbo-led state House of Assembly.
The Rivers State House of Assembly, however has now given Governor Fubara 48 hours grace to represent the 2025 budget to the lawmakers following a ruling by the apex court.
A strong detachment of armed security personnel was seen stationed at strategic points around the Assembly Quarters on Monday.
DAILY GIST reports that Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike have been at loggerheads over the control of political structure in Rivers state.
