The first batch of Nigerians evacuated from Poland in the wake of war crisis between Russia and Ukraine have arrived Abuja on Friday morning

They arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 7:11am on Friday via Max Air.

According to a report, the Federal Government will give $100 each to the Ukraine returnees upon their arrival.

Recall that president muhammadu Buhari had approved $8.5M to evacuate stranded Nigerians amidst the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to the foreign ministry’s statement, over 2,000 Nigerians fleeing the conflict in Ukraine, as of Tuesday night, had been received by Nigerian missions in countries around the area, including Slovakia, Romania, Poland and Hungary.

There are about 5,600 Nigerian students in Ukraine, the Nigerian foreign affairs ministry had confirmed.
