The Nigerian government has proposed a new minimum wage of N48,000 for civil servants in the country.
The organised Labour, consequently pulls out of the ongoing minimum wage negotiations after the government’s ‘ridiculous offer’ on Wednesday
According to the unions, the government offer was presented to them by the Permanent Secretary, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Office.
The organized private sector, OPS however proposed N54,000 for workers.
DAILY GIST reports that the federal government had summoned a meeting of the 37-member Tripartite Committee on the New National Minimum Wage, NNMW on Wednesday.
Recall that the NLC and TUC had made a demand of N615,000 as the new minimum wage
The organized labour also warned that if the national minimum wage is not concluded by the end of May, the trade union movement in Nigeria will no longer guarantee industrial peace in the country.
