The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has decided to step down the template of the new minimum wage on Tuesday.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris made this known while addressing State House Correspondents.
He stated that all 39 items on the agenda were discussed.
Regarding the minimum wage, Minister Idris revealed that the Tripartite Committee, consisting of representatives from local government, states, NLC/TUC, and the federal government, had submitted its report.
However, due to the complexity of the issue involving various stakeholders such as the Local Government, states, Federal Government, Organized Private Sector, and Labour unions, the Council could not reach a decision.
As a result, the memo on the new minimum wage was stepped down to allow President Bola Tinubu to conduct wider consultations before making a final submission to the National Assembly.
This decision underscores the importance of extensive consultation and collaboration among stakeholders in addressing crucial national issues such as the minimum wage.
