A official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), identified simply as Sylvanus has been killed in Lagos State.
In a video obtained by by DAILY GIST on Monday, Sylvanus’s lifeless body, clad in traditional attire, was seen on the street of Lagos.
Eyewitnesses revealed that his ID card shows he was working with the anti-graft agency before his demise.
“Where e dey work, nah EFCC. His ID card dey there,” voices, including a policeman, said in the video.
The circumstances surrounding Sylvanus’ death are still unclear.
The agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale confirmed the development in a terse statement on Monday afternoon.
Oyewale said: “The death is being investigated.”
Sylvanus’s death comes less than two weeks another EFCC officer, Aminu Sahabi Salisu was shot dead by a suspected fraudster in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The suspect in the incident is identified as Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu, an alleged internet fraudster.
The suspect attacked EFCC operatives during an operation in Awka and shot Salisu.
Nnamdi was apprehended while hiding in the ceiling of his neighbour’s room following the crime.
Salisu was later flown to Sokoto State for burial.
Meanwhile, the EFCC has named the administrative block of its Academy in Karu, Abuja after Salisu.
