Dangote refinery in Lekki, Lagos state has been gutted by fire on Wednesday.
A video of the fire incident was made available to DAILY GIST
The cause of the inferno could not be immediately ascertained as of press time.
Unconfirmed reports linked the fire outbreak to an explosion.
It was, however gathered that firefighters in Lagos made efforts to prevent the spread of the fire.
In a statement issued after the incident, a spokesman for the company, Anthony Chiejina, said operations at the refinery was not affected in anyway.
“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty,” he said.
Dangote Refinery is an oil refinery owned by Dangote Group that was inaugurated on the 22nd of May 2023 in Lekki
When in full operation, it is expected to have the capacity to process about 650,000 barrels per day of crude oil, making it the largest single-train refinery in the world.
The refinery has commenced the supply of diesel and aviation fuel to marketers in the country while petrol supply is expected to commence later
The investment is over 19 billion US dollars.
