BREAKING: UNILAG Student, Chidinma Arraigned In Court

The Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered Chidinma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga to be remanded in prison.

Chidinma is a 300 level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos. She was remanded alongside one Adedapo Quadri on Monday.

Magistrate Mrs Adeola Adedayo remanded her for 30 days in the first instant, pending the legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.

Police counsel Cyril Ejiofor had prayed the court to remand both first defendant Ojukwu and second defendant Quadri pending the issuance of a Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) report on the matter.

Mrs Adedayo, however, granted his prayer.

She said: “In the absence of any opposition, the two defendants are hereby remanded for 30 days in the first instance.

Ojukwu, 21, was alleged to have murdered Ataga in a service apartment in Lekki area of Lagos State.

DAILY GIST reports that The Lagos State Police Command arrested Chidinma for allegedly killing the Chief Executive Officer, Super TV, Usifo Ataga, in the Lekki area of the state.

While being paraded by the police, Chidinma had said she killed while he was trying to force himself on her.

Chidinma said she had been in a romantic relationship with Ataga for about four months before the ugly incident.

Chidinma while addressing Journalists said she and Ataga were “having fun” when an argument broke out and she stabbed him twice.

She had sought forgiveness, saying she did not want to die.

“I regret killing Mr Ataga. I don’t know what my future holds but I don’t want to die. Please, I don’t want to die because of this case. I have not killed before.”

“I totally regret everything I did and I am sorry. Mr Ataga’s family, I am deeply sorry for what I did. If I had my life back, I wouldn’t do anything like that. I am deeply sorry and I hope you forgive me,” Chidinma had said at the time.

Usifo, aged 50, was buried on July 30 in a low-key ceremony attended by his family members, including his wife, and friends
