A former minister of science and technology, Ogbonnaya Onu under the administration of former president, Muhammadu Buhari is dead.
Onu reportedly passed away on Thursday at a hospital in Abuja at the age of 72.
According to a source close to the deceased, the former governor died after a brief illness
He was the first civilian governor of Abia State.
He was also the former chairman of the now defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP
A statement by Jackson Udeh said, “First first Governor of Abia State, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has passed on this morning in an Abuja hospital.
Good Night, Dr. Onu. May your soul Rest In Peace. Amen!”
DAILY GIST recalls that Onu, during the 2023 general election, contested for the presidential flag of the All Progressive Congress (APC) but lost to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
