A police officer, ASP Drambi Vandi, who allegedly killed a lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The trial is ongoing before justice IBIRONKE Harrison of the Lagos state high court in igbosere.
The attorney general of Lagos state is leading the prosecuting team.
The president of the Nigerian bar association, Yakubu maikyau is leading other national officers to monitor the hearing.
The defendant is represented by his counsel, AdeTokunbo odutola.
Trial has now open and the court is currently hearing the testimony of the first prosecution witness, inspector Mathew Ameh.
The count charge brought against the defendant, reads, “that you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah Road, along the Lekki Expressway, Lagos, unlawfully killed one Omobolanle Raheem by shooting the deceased in the chest contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
After the charge sheet was read, Vandi pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.
