The Nigerian police force, Lagos Command on Friday has revealed how the late singer, Mohbad died.
The police announced that the auxiliary nurse, who injected Mohbad, is prime suspect in the singer’s death.
Idowu Owohunwa, the Lagos state police commissioner, gave an update with respect to the ongoing investigation into the singer’s demise in a press briefing on Friday afternoon.
Idowu revealed that Mohbad, began vomiting and developed goosebumps after he was injected three times by a nurse, Feyisayo Ogedemgbe, on September 12, 2023.

He emphasized that there is no evidence linking Marlian Music boss, Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry to the tragic demise of Mohbad
He said that thorough investigations have determined that both Naira Marley and Sam Larry were not present in Nigeria at the time of Mohbad’s unfortunate demise.
Speaking further, he acknowledged that Sam Larry did engage in physical altercations with Mohbad prior to the singer’s death.
He, however, noted that Sam Larry had confessed to physically confronting Mohbad over a dispute involving a significant sum of N2 million, which the deceased had allegedly received for his mother’s burial expenses but failed to deliver on his performance commitment during the event.
The Commissioner said, There is evidence that Naira Marley and Sam Larry have nothing to do with Mohbad’s death.
“Documentary evidence shows that both Naira Marley and Sam Larry were not in the country during the singer’s death.
“However, there is electronic evidence that Sam Larry bullied the singer, he admitted.
“Sam Larry admitted to physical assisting of Mohbad over the two million naira the singer collected for his mother’s burial but failed to perform during the event.”
He said those interrogated include Mohbad’s father, mother, sisters, brother, wife and manager among several others.
The CP said Mohbad was brought in dead to the hospital, and he was certified dead by doctors on duty on September 12.
According to the CP, the nurse, Feyisayo Ogedemgbe, who was invited by Mohbad’s friend, Ayobami Sodiq aka Spending, to inject the singer at his residence, administered three injections believed to have led to the chain of reactions that eventually led to the singer’s death.
“Mohbad began vomiting and developed goosebumps after the injections,” Owohunwa said.
“As of today, a total of 26 witnesses have been interviewed,” the CP said.
Five suspects have so far been identified, arrested, detained, and interrogated on their alleged roles in the sequence of events that led to the death of the singer.”
He added that Ogedengbe administered “multiple and highly potent” injections to Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Aloba.
Idowu revealed that the injections, consisting of Tetanus Toxoid, paracetamol, and Cetrazone — an antibiotic — were administered at Mobad’s residence on September 12.
The medications were said to have triggered an immediate reaction, including vomiting, goosebumps and convulsion.
According to him, Ogedengbe was unqualified to perform the role of a home nurse and did so in a non-clinical environment and professionally negligent manner.
Another suspect is Ibrahim Oluwatosin Owodunni otherwise known as Primeboy, who is described as a childhood friend of Mohbad.
The police commissioner disclosed that Primeboy attended a show with Mohbad on September 10, which culminated in a physical fight between the two that led to the late singer’s injury.
“The management of the injury subsequently resulted in his death,” Owohunwa said.
The police commissioner said: “Sam Larry, whose real name is Samson Balogun, was arrested and remains in detention for being complicit in the Afrobeats star’s death and in relation to viral videos by the deceased about bullying and assault.
Likewise, Abdul-Aziz Fashola, aka Naira Marley, was also arrested and is still in detention over similar allegations, the police noted.
Idowu added that the exhumation of Mohbad’s remains, autopsy, and toxicology test were undertaken on September 21, adding that results of the autopsy and toxicology were being awaited.
DAILY GIST reported that Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s record label, died at the age of 27 in Lagos.
The controversial reports surrounding the cause of his death led to call for justice from concerned Nigerians.
