The Court of Appeal in Akure has set Prophet Babatunde Sotitobire free, overturning a previous judgement of the Ondo State High Court.
Recall that Prophet Sotitobire was jailed last year over the mysterious disappearance of a 13-month child, Gold Kolawole from his church, DAILY GIST reports
The founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel had been sentenced to life imprisonment by the lower court.
Gold, who has not been seen till date, was brought to the church service by his parents but was never seen again.
His church was subsequently razed down by a mob.
The Sotitobire founder had asked the appeal court to nullify his life sentence conviction by the court.
The court ruled that the circumstantial evidence the high court based its judgement is not enough to convict him.
He was therefore discharged and acquited
