The Tinubu-led administration has continued to roll out a series of initiatives to address the country’s challenges and propelling the nation towards sustained development.

These initiatives encompass a range of sectors, from economic reforms and infrastructure development to advancements in healthcare and education.

Each initiative is designed to tackle specific issues and improve the quality of life for Nigerians, reflecting a commitment to progress and inclusive growth.

1. Student Loan Scheme:

The Student Loan initiative is a program
established by President Bola Tinubu to break finacial barriers in higher education

The government has set up a student loan scheme, with N45.6 billion already processed for payment to students and institutions.

An additional N50 billion has been allocated to the scheme, encouraging more youth to take advantage of this opportunity.

2. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative:

The Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) is a component of the palliative intervention of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration directed at providing succor to the masses occasioned by the transitive hardships of the fuel subsidy removal policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The government has launched this initiative to reduce dependence on imported petroleum products and promote the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) for transportation. This is expected to reduce transportation costs by approximately 60% and curb inflation.

3. Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP)

CREDICORP is a Development Finance Institution (DFI) of the Federal Government of Nigeria, established with one mandate: to democratise access to consumer credit for Nigeria’s working population. We achieve our mandate via three pillars: Infrastructure, Capital and Cultural Re-orientation

The government established this corporation with over N200 billion to help Nigerians acquire essential products without immediate cash payments, aiming to reduce corruption and promote transparent transactions.

4. Digital and Creative Enterprises (IDiCE) Program

iDICE is a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative promoting investment in digital and creative industries. It is part of Nigeria’s efforts to build back better, greener, and more inclusively,and to create more sustainable jobs for its youthful population.

The $617.7 million program targets Nigerians aged 15 to 35 years who are involved in innovative, early-stage, technology-enabled start-ups or in creative sector micro, small and medium sized enterprises.

The program is co-financed by the Federal Government of Nigeria (through the Bank of Industry), African Development Bank (AfDB), the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

5. Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA)

These programs have been introduced to develop and export youth talents and skills, further enhancing opportunities for young Nigerians.

6. Nano-Business Support:

Over N570 billion has been released to the 36 states to support their citizens, with 600,000 nano-businesses benefiting so far. An additional 400,000 nano-businesses are expected to benefit from this initiative.

7. Micro and Small Business Loans:

The government has processed 75,000 beneficiaries for N1 million micro and small business single-digit interest loans, with distribution starting this month. Additionally, payments of N1 billion each are being made to large manufacturers under similar loan conditions to boost manufacturing output.

8. Housing Initiatives

The government has embarked on an ambitious housing initiative called “Renewed Hope City and Estate,” which includes the development of 100,000 housing units across six geopolitical zones, along with Renewed Hope Estates in every state.

9. Nigeria Youth Investment Fund

The Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) is a landmark initiative launched by the Federal Government of Nigeria, aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs and innovators.

With a total of N110 billion allocated to this fund, the NYIF seeks to provide financial support to youth-led businesses, helping them to grow, create jobs, and contribute significantly to the nation’s economic development.

10. 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme

The 3MTT programme is aimed at building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone to power our digital economy and position Nigeria as a net talent exporter

The 3MTT programme, a critical part of the Renewed Hope agenda, is aimed at building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone to power our digital economy and position Nigeria as a net talent exporter. The first phase of the programme, executed in collaboration with NITDA, will involve multiple stakeholders including fellows, training providers, partners and placement organisations

11. Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA)

NiYA stands for Nigerian Youth Academy, a platform empowering young Nigerians with knowledge, skills, and mentorship to unlock their potential and become future leaders

NiYA caters to all young Nigerians between the ages of 18-35 years, from all regions and local government areas of the country. Any youth interested in acquiring skills and belonging to the largest online digital community of Nigerian Youths.

It also provides live classes, online job / career fairs, membership zones, forums, startup supports, podcasts, mentorship programs, networking opportunities, and lifetime access to our resource centre.

12. National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP)

13. Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme

The scheme aims to foster a vibrant and sustainable AI ecosystem in Nigeria by providing financial support, facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration among individuals and organisations in the AI industry

15. Digital Nigeria

16. Local Content & Capacity

17. E-Government Initiatives

The Ministry has set four (4) key goals to drive the adoption of e-government across all MDAs, namely connected government, informed citizenry, open data, and open government partnership.

Leveraging on technology advances; the Ministry has initiated projects to ensure that citizens and businesses have easy access to government services.

These initiatives are prioritized to drive the adoption of e-government across the MDAs, which will turn improve service delivery, drive transparency, accountability and good governance.

18. Subsidized 40k Rice Initiative

In a bid to address the food crisis rocking the nation, the Nigerian government has introduced a plan to provide 50kg bags of rice to public servants at a subsidised rate of ₦40,000.

This initiative aims to minimize the impact of the food crisis on Nigerians.

However, the federal government recently suspended the scheme.

The Nigerian government is inviting youths in the country to apply for the newly launched startup funding of $617 million worth of up-
skill.

This initiative aims to foster entrepreneurship and innovation within Nigeria’s digital technology and creative industries, addressing challenges such as access to risk capital and innovation ecosystem capacity faced by startups.

The initiative also aims to support Nigerian youth in up-skilling, startup funding, catalytic infrastructure, and policy advocacy.

21. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative

The Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) is a component of the palliative intervention of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration directed at providing succor to the masses occasioned by the transitive hardships of the fuel subsidy removal policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Sequel to the removal of the PMS subsidy and the full deregulation of the petroleum products market, the price of PMS has increased significantly.

As such there is a need to consider alternative sources of fuel, primarily CNG and EV for vehicles

22. Federal Government of Nigeria Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) 2024

The federal government of Nigeria Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) involves the distribution of 2,000 CNG-powered tricycles as a significant step toward achieving economic growth and environmental responsibility.

23. NDDC Internship Scheme for Niger Delta Youth

The Niger Delta Youth Internship Scheme is a transformative initiative designed to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing 12-month internships to 10,000 young people across various industries.

These sectors align with the region’s growth potential, helping to develop a workforce ready for the challenges of tomorrow.

24. Digital Literacy for All Initiative

The federal government has unveiled “Digital Literacy for All Initiative” targeting the training of over 30 million Nigerians, particularly those in the informal sector and rural communities.

The effort aims to empower them to harness digital technologies for enhanced productivity in key sectors of the economy.

It noted that the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy was collaborating with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to implement the initiative, utilising youth corps members to train target groups nationwide.

25. Teachers’ Training and Support Initiative 

In a groundbreaking move, the Federal Government (FG) has established 9 man Technical Committee on Teachers’ Training and Support, paving the way for a transformative overhaul of Nigeria’s education system.

Announced by the Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, following a meeting with UNESCO Representative Mr. Abdourahamane Diallo in the Ministry. The initiative underscores the critical role of teachers empowerment.

The committee is to deliver quality education through the teacher support and training for basic and secondary schools. Also to review existing policies, practices across the board.
