The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has reopened its application portal for recruitment.

In a public announcement made early Thursday via its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Board had confirmed that the portal — https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng — will be inaccessible until Monday, July 21, 2025.

“As part of efforts to optimise the efficiency of its system, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announces that the portal has been temporarily suspended,” the statement read.

The Board explained that the move was aimed at accommodating the high volume of applications and ensuring “a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process.”

“We appreciate the enthusiasm and interest of young Nigerians to serve their country through these vital agencies and are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process,” said Secretary to the Board, Maj. Gen. AM Jibril (rtd), who signed the announcement.

The development followed a series of delays that have marred the recruitment process. Initially scheduled to begin on June 26, the application window was postponed to July 14. However, on the rescheduled date, applicants reported widespread access issues, with the portal experiencing major glitches. Concerns were also raised regarding the security of the platform.

The CDCFIB did not disclose specific details about the nature of the glitches or potential breaches but assured the public of its commitment to fixing the system.

Applicants were encouraged to remain patient and vigilant for further updates ahead of the revised reopening date.

The agencies include Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Interested applicants are advised to apply for only one of the four agencies, as multiple applications will lead to disqualification.

The recruitment seeks to employ 30,000 eligible candidates with SSCE, Diploma (ND), NCE, HND, and Bachelor’s Degrees (BSc) qualifications to fill various positions in General Duty, Inspectorate, and Assistant Cadres.

Vacancies are available across various cadres, including superintendent, inspectorate, and assistant levels. Positions are open for professionals such as medical doctors, engineers, lawyers, nurses, as well as graduates with degrees or diplomas in various disciplines.

There are also openings for holders of SSCE, NECO, or equivalent qualifications for general duty roles, drivers, artisans, and appliance operators.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must be Nigerians by birth, between the ages of 18 and 35, and must possess the relevant qualifications for the positions they are applying for. A certificate of medical fitness from a recognized government hospital is required, and applicants must not have any criminal convictions or history of financial embarrassment. Male applicants must not be less than 1.65 meters in height, while female applicants must be at least 1.60 meters tall. Additionally, male applicants must have a chest measurement of no less than 0.87 meters. Computer literacy is considered an added advantage.

The CDCFIB has stressed that applicants are allowed to apply for only one of the four agencies. Any applicant found to have submitted multiple applications across different agencies will be disqualified.

This recruitment drive comes at a time when the government is seeking to strengthen the country’s paramilitary institutions to enhance national security, public safety, and institutional efficiency.

HOW TO APPLY

According to CDCFIB, the recruitment process has resumed on Monday, July 21st, 2025 and all applications are to be submitted online through the CDCFIB recruitment portal at https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng
