The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has officially launched its recruitment portal for individuals interested in serving as ad-hoc staff members in the forthcoming governorship elections.
The gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo states are slated for September 21 and November 16, respectively.
As part of its preparations to ensure a smooth electoral process, INEC is inviting eligible individuals to apply for various ad-hoc positions.
These positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Technicians (RATECHs), and RAC Managers.
The recruitment portal, known as the INEC Portal for the Recruitment of Election Staff (INECPRES), opened on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
In a notice obtained by DAILY GIST on Monday, the commission said the portal opens for applications on July 15 and closes at 12am on August 19.
According to INEC, qualified applicants must meet the criteria below.
• Applicants must not be political party members and must not have demonstrated or expressed support for any candidate or party.
• Applicants must reside in the state selected except for registration area technicians.
• Applications can be made via the web address pres.inecnigeria.org or by downloading the INECPRES mobile android app via inecpres-app.com
• For individuals in need of technical assistance during the application process, the electoral body listed the following help desk details to guide applicants for the different states.
INEC pledged to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and ensure that the governorship elections are conducted in a transparent and efficient manner.
