Gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly opened fire on travellers along old Ila-Orangun/Ijabe road in Osun state, leaving four passengers severely injured.
DAILY GIST learnt that the vehicle conveying four passengers going to Ijabe community in Odo-Otin Local Government of Osun State from Ila-Orangun were waylaid by the gunmen and shot at severally.
It was also learnt that a passerby informed men of Osun Amotekun of the dastard attack which prompted them to swung into action.
According to report, as the attack was being perpetrated, a passerby informed men of Osun Amotekun, which prompted them to swing into action.
Speaking on the sad incident, a security official said, ”they attacked the four passengers at the early hours of Sunday but the men of Amotekun arrived the scene after they got information about the attack. They engaged the gunmen and one of them was arrested but the four passengers sustained injuries.”
Comrade Amitolu Shittu, the Field Commandant of Osun Amotekun also confirmed the incident on Monday.
He said one of the gunmen was arrested by the Amotekun operatives while the four passengers that were attacked are currently receiving treatment.
