Anthony Joshua has been slammed with suspension from boxing by the British Boxing Council
The suspension following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley last week.
Joshua was handed a 28-day suspension, which is a standard procedure for fighters who suffer a technical knockout or knock out losses.
According to reports in the British media, the suspension is in line with the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports policies.
“AJ has been banned for just under a month by the British Boxing Board of Control. According to the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports, it is not unusual for a fighter to receive a medical suspension after suffering a TKO or KO loss.”
Joshua endured a torrid night against Dubois, in arguably his worst performance in his professional career.
He struggled to find his feet in the bout as he was knocked down four times before Dubois finished him off with a right blow to the chin in the fifth round.
The suspension is unlikely to affect Joshua because he has no immediate plans to return to action as he prepares to relaunch his career following a damaging defeat to Dubois.
He suffered his fourth career defeat against Dubois, who won the interim IBF title in June and was elevated to world champion status when Usyk vacated the belt.
