Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF in Nasarawa state have arrested one Khadija Aliyu for allegedly stealing a seven-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony in the Keffi Area of the state.
Khadija, it was learnt had been claiming to be pregnant before she carried out the act.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect attended a naming ceremony behind INEC office, Keffi.
DSP Nansel said the suspect sneaked into the house while the ceremony was going on and stole the baby who was laid to sleep, carried the child behind her back, covered her with a veil and escaped.
The police spokesman further said the suspect was later arrested on the 28th of September, 2024, at about 6:30 pm by police operatives attached to the Keffi Division of the command.
The statement reads: On 28/9/2024 at about 1830hrs, Police operatives attached to Keffi Division arrested one Khadija Aliyu ‘F’ for stealing a seven days old baby girl during a naming ceremony in Keffi.”
“The suspect, who has been claiming to be pregnant, attended a naming ceremony at Behind INEC office, keffi.
“While the event was ongoing, she sneaked into the house and stole the baby that was laid to sleep, carried the child behind her back, covered her with a veil and escaped before she was later arrested.”
