Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar visited former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State on Saturday.
Atiku was accompanied by key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the meeting with the ex-president.
The visit, described as a courtesy call and to offer Sallah homage, has sparked discussions and speculations about political alliances and strategies for the 2027 elections.
Atiku posted photos of the visit on his X handle and wrote: “Accompanied by some stakeholders of our great party, the @OfficialPDPNig, we visited the Daura residence of former President Muhammadu Buhari to pay a courtesy call and offer Sallah homage.”
Atiku’s visit to Buhari was coming barely three days after he paid a similar visit to former Military President Ibrahim Babangida and former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their respective residences in Niger State.
A resident of Daura told Channels TV that the visit may be connected with the 2027 general elections.
Atiku is a known critic of the administration of Buhari and his visit is being taunted by many as preparation for 2027 presidency which he is bent on running.
Atiku is a former vice president of Nigeria, serving in that position from 1999 to 2003.

He had emphasized the need for unity within the PDP to secure future electoral victories and mentioned discussions with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, regarding a potential alliance.
