2023: INEC Speaks On Extension Of Voter Registration
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it is considering extending the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The National Chairman of commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made this known in a tweet on INEC’s official handle on Saturday.
Yakubu stated that the commission has heard Nigerians’ requests concerning the extension of CVR registration, adding that the agency will soon make a decision on the matter.
He also assured Nigerians that they will be able to register to vote in the 2023 elections, stating that their vote will count.
The tweet reads: “We have heard your requests loud & clear. You will soon hear from us on the extension of CVR registration.
“Please assure me that you will register, pick your PVCs, and Vote. I also assure you that your vote will count.”
His reaction followed calls from the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, a coalition of Civil Society Organisations for the body to extend the registration scheduled to end on June 30.
