While Google seems very helpful when seeking to understand what is not clear, There are some things that you probably should not search for.
It is officially the age of the internet. Well, it has been for years now and almost every information you need is just a click away.
Google has been really helpful in this regard. But then, there are some searches that can lead to distressing or harmful content.
While curiosity is a natural human trait, it’s important to exercise caution when typing into the search button.
Below are some things you should avoid searching on Google:
1. Your symptoms
The most important thing you definitely shouldn’t Google should be your symptoms. Are you feeling a certain type of way? Do not head over to Google to find out what could possibly be wrong. Searching for symptoms online can lead to undue anxiety.
Known as “cyberchondria,” this phenomenon often results in convincing yourself that you have a rare or severe disease based on common symptoms. Instead, consult a healthcare professional for any medical concerns.
2. Two girls, one cup
The internet has a lot of disturbing sexually explicit content floating around, and this video, Two Girls, One Cup, is undoubtedly one of them. Two Girls, One Cup is the unofficial name of the 2007 Brazilian porn film called Hungry Bitches, where two women are engaged in the act of coprophilia–where people derive sexual pleasure from faeces. It’s as revolting as it sounds.
3. Mouth larva
Sometimes, a person gets curious about moth larvae and then tries to look it up. But then, there is sometimes the mistake of typing “mouth larvae” instead and clicking on the search button.
If you do this, instead of pictures of household pests, you’ll find pictures of humans and other animals with larvae crawling between their teeth. These pictures could scar some people for life and you can’t un-see them.
4. Smoker’s lungs
“Smoking kills” is the message that is sprawled across every cigarette pack in the country, along with a grotesque picture of someone with cancer. If that doesn’t scare you quickly, searching for “smoker’s lungs” will give you nightmares. The search images for this show a side-by-side comparison of normal lungs next to a smoker’s lungs. If you’ve been finding it hard to quit smoking, one look at these pictures will physically make you sick and can probably imprint your mind with these pictures every time you think of picking up a “ciggie.”
5. Things people have found in fast food
If you are the type that eats fast food and want to continue doing so in peace, then it is best to avoid googling “things people have found in fast food”.
This is because the search results show people claiming to have found the most insane and unusual things in their fast food. Few minutes spent on these search results will definitely dampen your appetite the next time you are in a fast food restaurant.
6. Mr. Hands
If you’re wondering what’s so weird about Mr Hands, be prepared to be mortified. Mr Hands is the stage name of a former Boeing engineer named Kenneth Pinyana, who videotaped himself having sexual intercourse with a horse, not once, but numerous times. And that’s not all. Pinyana died due to fatal injuries after an incident where the animal went too far.
7. “Your favourite thing” + “cancer”
Do you have something you love? Like your favourite pizza, roasted chicken, living with dogs etc? Do not Google that thing accompanied with the word – cancer.
8. Inside trash can
Typing ‘inside trash can’ in your Google search will bring up images of open trash cans. While it may not be vomit-inducing, it’s something that you don’t want to scan through, especially knowing the obscure kinds of things you’ll find in these photos of trash cans.
This is because the search results will likely yield at least one shaky report linking that thing and the disease. This could literally make you conscious of almost everything around you.
9. No sleep
If you are experiencing insomnia, do not Google the phrase “no sleep”. This is because the results will only make things worse.
Googling “no sleep” leads you to Reddit’s aptly-named horror story forum, where you get to read true horror stories from other people leaving you too scared to sleep and jumping at any sudden movements.
10. Rat king
Do not make the mistake of googling rat king like I did. Don’t do it. The pictures that show up are not of a cute little rat wearing a crown, as you may falsely believe. Instead, photos of a group of rats with their tails tied together. It is believed that when rats are together in a tight and enclosed space, their tails get intertwined, resulting from an entangling material like hair mixing with a sticky substance such as sap or gum. A similar sort of thing happens with squirrels too. But not to go down this hole
In conclusion, Google can be very helpful, except when you can’t unsee the results.
