The Nigerian police force has deployed helicopter to curtail situations as Protest turns extremely violent in Abuja.
The protest against economic hardship in the country has now degenerated into chaos.
With many of the protesters around the Central Business District, especially around the Ministry of Finance moving into the Federal Secretariat, tension is rising in suburban areas like Kubwa, Ketampe and Dawaki.
At the central area, heavy security forces are across the road with the Police helicopters hovering around the area.
Protests in the Nyanya axis of Abuja turned violent as hoodlums were attacking cars on sight along Keffi/Abuja road.
Protesters have also set a police outpost in the Nyanya area of Abuja on fire.
The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja raised an alarm, saying the protests in the Nigerian capital has degenerated into chaos.
The Police Public Relations Officer, FCT, SP Josephine Adeh in a statement on Thursday noted that the police was becoming overwhelmed.
She said the protesters were coming out from different locations against the earlier order, restricting the protest to Moshood Abiola Stadium.
The protesters are coming out from different locations and are becoming violent.
“We are trying to curtail them but currently, they are being very violent,” she said.
She added that the protesters moving to the Eagle Square against the initial restriction of the protest to Moshood Abiola Stadium brought about the violence.
