The federal government has invited the leadership of Academic staff union of university (ASUU) to an emergency over another looming strike.
In a statement made available to Journalists by Director Press and Public Relations under Mallam Adamu Adamu, Ben. Bem Goong in Abuja on Monday stated that The emergency meeting will hold on Tuesday, the 6th of April 2021 at 11:00 am in the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja.
It was gathered that the emergency meeting is essential to avert any industrial action by the Union following a strike threat by the ASUU leadership.
ASUU had issued a notice of strike after calling off a nine month old strike in January this year, saying, the intended strike notice is over the federal government failure to implement some of the agreements entered into between the union and the Federal Government after the suspension of the strike in December, 2020
The two parties still have not resolved the the issue of Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), part of why ASUU embark on an indefinite strike that lasted for nine months.
