Political parties membership has no restrictions, it is free entry and exit at any given time subject to the choice of an individual. We must therefore concede that our former Leader, Iyiola Omisore is eligible to join APC. If nothing else, at least Oga now is free of the confusion in his mind and that of his remaining few followers.
For some 2 years now, there have been politically confounded to an uncertain situation whereby it was difficult for them to interpret their personal identities. The armed robber mentality of belonging to two parties simultaneously has ended today. However I want to say that Otunba Omisore has more to benefit from the APC for the left over years it has to complete its term in Osun State by 2022 and in Nigeria by 2023 than the APC can ever profit from Omisore. Make no mistake, Omisore was one of the most prominent Politicians in the anal of history in Osun State but like the elasticity principle, Oga is now at the breaking point where it is difficult to maintain the original form, students of physics in the science class will be able to relate more what I meant by breaking point, in fact there is a graphical representation of the concept of elasticity.
Omisore has waned with due respect. His herd of followership amongst whom I was had unimaginably and substantially depleted to the level that he can not stand any election in his name in Osun State let alone raising anyone’s hand up for blessing or anointment. For example after the 2018 governorship election where the ordinary masses in Osun State believed that Omisore after his direct defeat betrayed them by joining APC to hijack the victory from PDP, Omisore failed to ensure any political breakthrough for his party in all electoral contest that followed the 2018 governorship election including the election that was decided mainly by the numerical population of Ile-Ife where he hails from and in which he had reigned like a King. He lost the House of Reps election scandalously to a fresh mind in politics, reputable Honourable Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro. Senator Fadaunsi also came to trounce Omisore even in Ife land to emerge as Senator of Omisore’s district at the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
A Politician is only measured on the records of victory he can record. As of this evening, the House of Representative Member representing Omisore in Abuja as well as his Senator belong to the opposition. If a transparent local council election is conducted today, Omisore can not deliver the councillor of his ward for his new party, APC. It is therefore not worthy of any special ovation that he has joined the APC. In my estimation, the people all along are waiting for Omisore to punish his betrayal of 2018. He is therefore not coming to add any value unto Governor Oyetola, instead, he has become more of a liability in politics than an asset. He will now live large on the lean resources of the government and the administration patronage as well as what the likes of Gov Kayode Fayemi can fend for him nationally while Buhari is still in the villa.
I do not think that Senator Omisore’s Mother Mama Emilly will have blessed her Son to join APC if the regent was alive. The mother stood like a caring mother to save her Son when Bisi Akande and their AD oligarch wanted to end his life over Bola Ige’s murder before the Senator was discharged and acquitted by the court under Justice A.A Sanda of the Federal High Court at Ibadan. This led to how the Senator’s mother weaned her Son and registered him at the strong corridor where the late Ooni of Ife Oba Okunade Sijuade was cardinal. I also doubt if Kabiesi Sijuade will bless Senator Omisore to move on to APC if he was alive today.
Politics is unpredictable. As I watched Otunba Omisore holding the broom this evening, the memory of the evening leading to the election of 2011 in Ife sparked and lingers again, I remember how Honourable Rotimi Makinde wept profusely a day to his election on national television when his Brother and 4 other followers were murdered as they hide inside the church. On that evening, Makinde accused only one man for his colossal loss and gruesome murder. However as from today, that history will be deleted in the APC law book because it is now a family affair.
Lastly, it is no mistake that the former Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s bloc has refused to identify with Omisore till date and vice versa. In this is an alibi on Oyetola’s shoulder. Oyetola needs more than a retired giant to make any impact in Osun State politics going forward. I wish to also put my audience on alert that Omisore and Oyetola will pretty soon begin hostile friendship because as far as Omisore’s game plan with his friends is concerned, Tinubu will not smell APC presidential ticket. How Oyetola who is a member of Tinubu biological family will abide by such death warrant on his Egbon’s proposed presidential bid remains unseen.
